出奇老鼠薄餅樂園 (roughly translating to Chuck E. Mouse's Pizza Paradise, though the first word 出奇 'Chūqí' sounding like 'Chuck E.' more directly translates to 'Surprising', and also usually marked in English as just Chuck E. Cheese's) was a chain of six Pizza Time Theatre restaurants situated within Hong Kong, Tsuen Wan, Kowloon, and Singapore.[1]

History

The first location would open in Kowloon / Tsim Sha Tsui East, Hong Kong, China (96 Granville Rd.) in December 1982 as the 200th Pizza Time Theatre. The location would be run by the Whimsy Company, alongside the Modern Advertising Company running advertisements. The location would functionally not change from other PTT stores outside of having shrimp pizza and spaghetti served. Plans for an additional location by Whimsy would be noted in March 1983, stating a location was planned in Hong Kong, China (Causeway Bay) to open in the Summer, though this never came to fruition.[1] The first location would continue to do well for Whimsy. By December 1983 it was noted the showtapes for the store would soon be translated to Chinese (likely Cantonese), alongside Whimsy having joined together with Emporium Holdings Ltd. (a department store chain) to form the Whimsy Recreation PTE Ltd. to oversee two more locations in Singapore. The Singapore, Marine Parade (Parkway Parade, 80 Marine Parade Road, #01-35) would open soon after on December 15th, with the second not coming to fruition. Three more locations would open in Hong Kong throughout 1984-1985.[2]

Video Appearances

The locations have appeared in various Chinese movies and TV shows, including:

  • 'Long Arm of the Law' (省港旗兵), 1984
  • 'Beloved Daddy' (失婚老豆), 1984
  • 'The Flying Mr. B' (鬼馬飛人), 1985
  • 'Night Caller' (平安夜), 1985
  • (Allegedly, unconfirmed) 430 Space Shuttle (430穿梭機), 1982-1989[3]
