Toledo, OH (5455 Airport Hwy), Store #554, was a corporate-owned Chuck E. Cheese's that opened on September 6, 1993, with a 1-Stage and closed on August 31, 2026. It still exists as of today, in good condition except for a few mechanical issues. Currently running Legacy Showtapes. This store is notable for being featured in a 2011 video where a Chuck E walkaround's head fell off during a Cupid Shuffle live show. This location should not be confused with Toledo, OH (5077 Monroe St), which is a Chuck E. Cheese's that opened on the same day with a 1-Stage and is still open with the 2.0 remodel.

History

The Toledo (Airport) Chuck E. Cheese's opened on September 6, 1993, with a 1-Stage. The store opened on the exact same day as Toledo, OH (5077 Monroe St), which also opened with a 1-Stage.

On October 17, 2011, a video taken at the Toledo store was posted to YouTube, in which the Chuck walkaround's head fell off during a Cupid Shuffle live show [1]. The video went viral.

Toledo (Airport) was one of few stores outside of the Legacy locations that did not receive the 2.0 remodel. Following the removal of all other 1-Stages, with the exception of Hicksville, NY (11 Hanover Pl), Toledo's 1-Stage became the last in Ohio, and the last non-Legacy 1-Stage in North America. The store also became the last in Ohio to house Munch's Make Believe Band, and the last non-Legacy store to house it in the United States after the closure of Huntington Beach, CA (15511 Edwards St) on September 21, 2025. From 2024 to 2025, Toledo's stage, like all other remaining non-Legacy stages, was put into random movements and no longer played shows until ShowBizPizza.com visited the location and met the store's show tech [2]. From then on, the Toledo 1-Stage played Legacy shows [3], despite not being a Legacy store.

On August 31, 2026, after almost 33 years of operation, the Toledo (Airport) Chuck E. Cheese's permanently closed. As a result, Hicksville now houses the last 1-Stage, and Munch's Make Believe Band has gone extinct outside of the Legacy locations. Additionally, there are now no CEC locations with animatronics in Ohio.
