The Billy Bob (Mijjin) was an animatronic produced by Creative Engineering for the New Rock-afire Explosion show in 1993 [1] He is the successor to the Billy Bob (Early Mijjin) built the year prior for Creative Engineering 's show The Mijjins

History

The Billy Bob Mijjin would start development and be finished in 1993 [2] The bot is an improved version of the Billy Bob (Early Mijjin) built the year prior, with the major differences being the bot having a standard Mijjin mech and various cosmetic differences, such as smaller dots on the shirt and a different mask sculpt

On the New Rock Afire Explosion Stage Billy Bob resides on a rotating platform, which it itself is in another much larger rotating platform which takes up most of the space on center stage. In the default position Billy Bob stands at the very front of the stage, but thanks to the rotating platform he can go all around the perimeter of center stage. On the NRAE Mini Stage Billy Bob resided on a raised red carpeted [3] section of the stage on it's left side. [4]

The first 2 New Rock-afire Explosion shows built known as the "beta" shows had multiple minor cosmetic and scenic differences from later shows. The only major diffrence on Billy Bob being the his overall starps. On the first show, initially used as the programming stage at Creative Engineering but later sent to Pleasure Island ,the starps had the red lines pointing outwards, instead of them either pointing inwards or the 2 lines pointing in the same direction [2] This is also the case for the second show which was built right after the first show was shipped out to be used at Creative Engineering as the programming stage [5]

Design

This bot is a standard Mijjin mech, the mech has blue eye pieces. The bot is a smaller Mijjin style version of the Billy Bob (Animatronic) from the Rock-afire Explosion sporting the classic Red and Yellow striped overalls, and a new white and red polka dot shirt.

Toyland

The bot wore the normal outfit, along with a Red and Yellow striped Cap, and an orange scarf [6]

Sports Plus

The bot wore the same outfit as the Toyland set only with a larger and differently knotted scarf [7]

Mampato

The bot is wearing a yellow button-up shirt and blue vertical stripped shorts [8]

Edina, MN Circus Pizza

Sometime between the november 1993 opening [9] and 1996 Billy Bob's original white and red polka dot shirt was replaced with a white and black polka dot shirt [10]

Mechanical Structure

The Mijjins are mostly made up of a casted resin/plastic parts, with a few square aluminium bars, steal rods, steal universal joints, and various nuts, bolts and washers of various sizes. The head of the character also includes 2 custom eyes and a pair of Rock-afire Explosion eylids connected togheter from the back.On top of the mech goes over multiple vacuum formed transparent plastic shells that give the character shape. Then on top of those go the leather guards that protect the cosmetics from getting caught in the mech trough the gaps in the shells. The bot is mounted onto a circular wooden base with smiley face-esc cutouts on the top.The "eyes" are where the character's feet go while the mouth is a trapdoor which reveals the character's valves,on the bottom of the door is also put a chart with the character's movements and valve numbers [11]

The character like almost every other Creative Engineering bot runs on pneumatic cylinders produced by the companies Fabco-Air Inc and custom Creative Engineering.inc branded cylinders. These cylinders are than actuated with Mac valves stored in the character's circular base. The eye movements are controlled with servos, the brand of these servos is unknown.

Movements

The bot has 26 movements,20 pneumatic,6 servo controlled [12]
