Brooklyn, NY (8949 Bay Pkwy) was a Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza Time Theatre located in Caesar's Bay Bazaar that opened in February 1984 with a Balcony Stage and closed on April 26, 1987. This location should not be confused with Brooklyn, NY (139 Flatbush Ave), which opened on July 22, 2004, with a Studio C Beta and is still open with the 2.0 remodel.
History
Pre-Pizza Time Theatre
Before Caesar's Bay Bazaar opened in 1981, the entire complex, located in the Bensonhurst neighborhood of Brooklyn [1], was a Korvettes department store [2].
Pizza Time Theatre
The Brooklyn Pizza Time Theatre opened in February 1984 with a Balcony Stage, and was owned by Israeli-American businessman Jeries Kharman [2]. Upon opening, the store's Lounge act was either the Beagles [2] or the Beach Bowzers [1]. The store's Balcony Stage had a Cheese Crawl [3], as well as two sets of rainbow Warblettes, one on either side of the stage [4]. Brooklyn would be the last CEC with Pizza Time Theatre branding to open in New York, as all others would open simply as Chuck E. Cheese's going forward. By the late 1980s, the mechanical condition of Brooklyn's Cyberamics had noticeably deteriorated [4].
Closure
On April 26, 1987, the Brooklyn Pizza Time Theatre closed, possibly due to leasing or parking issues, but otherwise due to unknown reasons. The site is now Bob's Discount Furniture & Mattress Store.
