The Mijjin Prototype (Mijjin) was an animatronic character built by Creative Engineering employee Charles Lanusse in march of 1991 as part of the company's initiative to develop new dancing characters [1] after their flagship show The Rock-afire Explosion started being phased out of ShowBiz Pizza Place locations.

History

In the early 90's Creative Engineering was in a dire state.Togheter with them splitting off from Showbiz Pizza Time.Inc,their attempts to sell of their 80 spare Rock-afire Explosion shows mostly failing, and their other failed ventures made the company start a new initiative to reinvent [2] their flagship show The Rock-afire Explosion .

Around 1991 Creative Engineering employee Charles Lanusse, who had previously worked for another animatronic company called Minimation, used his knowledge from working there to create a new style of animatronic inspired by Minimation's smaller bots, which Aaron Fechter would nickname Mijjins .The Mijjin Prototype would be the first of these characters, built in march of 1991. [1] The bot resembles a middle aged man with a mustache. He played the Mijjin Prototype Showtape which was solely made up of lip syncing to the song How To Dance by the Bingoboys

Sometime in late 1991-early 1992 around the time The Mijjins was being built, the bot was given a few new cosmetics, such as a new mask that would also be used on Mijjin #5 and the Max (Mijjin) .His original overall starps were also removed. [3] The showtape used by the bot was also reprogrammed. The audio stayed the same.

It's unknown exactly what happened to the bot after these initial tests.

Designs

1991

The character seems to be a middle aged man with long curly blonde hair,a sharp upwards pointing nose,a cleft chin, very large ears, brown eyebrows, and a brown mustache made of painted on or sculpted on lines. His eye color appears to be brown but the quality of the video makes it hard to tell for certain. His outfit is made up of a plain white collared open-front long sleeve shirt, blue and black striped overalls with straps that use the same fabric [4] as the later version of the shorts [5] used on the Beach Bear (Animatronic) and a pair of white sneakers. His hands do not have any cosmetics on.

1992

He shares the same mask sculpt as Mijjin #5 and the Max (Mijjin) with a very defined chin and jawline His eye color appears to be brown but the quality of the video makes it hard to tell for certain. His outfit is made up of a plain white collared open-front long sleeve shirt, blue and black striped overalls and a pair of white sneakers. His hands do not have any cosmetics on. Mechanical Difference

Not much is known about the Mijjin Prototype's mech as no photos of it have surfaced but considering the time it was created it's likely similar to other early Mijjins such as the one used in The Mijjins ,sharing most if not all the molded parts with the later standard Mijjin, with the difference being the resin parts being made out of a brown prototyping resin Creative Engineering used on many early Mijjins. The universal joint is also likely a casted resin part instead of the steal joint on the final bots like other early mijjins. The most notable difference is the addition of a 4 fingered hand mech. This bot was one of only a few Mijjins with any kind of mech in the fingers. It's also not out of the question to say the bot used Chicago Cylinder Corp and Fabco Air Inc. cylinders, instead the standard Creative Engineering and Fabco Air Inc. branded cylinders used on standard Mijjins,as that's what a few of the surviving early Mijjins use [6]

Movements

The bot appears to have 35 movements [1] ,his eye and eyelid movements are controlled by servos. It's unknown what control system the bot used.
